Meet Our Agents at McDowall and Keeney
Steve graduated from UC Davis in 1982. Drafted by the San Francisco Giants upon graduation, he played in their minor league system before joining his Father (Don Keeney) in 1984. Steve is now co-owner and Personal Lines Manager of McDowall and Keeney Insurance Associates. Steve is married to his wife, Lori, and is an avid sports enthusiast; whether it’s maintaining his low handicap in golf, or coaching his son John in baseball and golf.
John’s insurance career began in 1980 as an agent with Metropolitan Property Casualty and Life. In 1982 he joined McDowall & Sons, Inc. as a producer. He soon enrolled in an intensive insurance educational program provided by a leading Insurance company. That was followed by hands-on training in an accelerated employment program in two regional offices where he worked in a variety of positions before returning to the Agency. John is now co-owner and Commercial Lines Manager of McDowall and Keeney Insurance Associates. He and his wife Heather live on a ranch in Amador County and enjoy getting away to their Sierra cabin for year round recreation.
Steve joined the US Air Force in 1969 as a Navigator trainee, and served as Navigator/Bombardier in B 52’s (including service in the Vietnam War) until he left the Air Force in 1976. Licensed as a Life Agent in 1976 where he served in various roles until 1982, when he was promoted to Branch Life Manager with United Pacific. In 1985, Steve was appointed Regional Life Manager, serving in that role until 1992. He became a life insurance agent prior to joining McDowall and Keeney in 1993.
Randy graduated from Missouri State in 1972 and began his insurance career that year. The first 18 years were on the insurance company side, in commercial and personal lines underwriting, including Commercial Underwriting Manager and Regional Commercial Underwriting Manger. He became an agent in 1990, then started his own agency with Farmers Insurance before joining McDowall and Keeney in 2001 as a multi-line producer for both personal and commercial insurance. Avid gardener of his 5 acre home in the foothills, golfer and SF Giants fan, he enjoys family life with his wife Judi and their two children/spouses, including their grandchild.
David began his insurance career with Kemper in Seattle, working in their underwriting department for 10 years. He moved to Sacramento after marrying a local girl, and was hired by a local independent agency. He joined McDowall and Keeney where he continues his career as a personal lines Customer Account Representative.
Prior to her move to the U.S. in 1977, Susan studied Business Administration, majoring in Accounting at St. Louis Univ, Philippines for two years. She continues her study in Accounting in Sacramento. While a bookkeeper in San Francisco in 1980, she met her husband, George. She joined McDowall and Keeney in 1987 as a Full Charge Bookkeeper. In 2004, she became the Corporate Secretary of McDowall and Keeney, where she has now been employed for 29 years. Susan and George have two wonderful children, Regina and Kit, plus two adorable grandchildren, Mya and Valentino.
Barbara began her insurance career with a State Farm Agency in 1979 while attending California State Univ at Sacramento. She graduated in 1981. She joined McDowall and Keeney in 1986 as a Personal Lines Customer Account Representative. Eventually, she moved to Commercial Lines. Love of travel has taken her to 43 countries. She tries to travel internationally at least twice a year. Her son, Christopher, lives in Albuquerque with his fiancee Eleni. Barbara personal time includes reading, walking her shelties, and working in her home and yard, while finding time to enjoy family and friends.
